Bella is one of our mares, and is definitely a diva. She is a gentle giant with a heart of gold. Thanks to her size, she is able to carry more weight than some of the smaller horses. Bella is our youngest horse and has been with us since she was about six years old, having been a therapy horse for most of her working life.

Candela

Age: Born 200?
Candela once had a career as a polo pony, trained in Argentina. She is extremely sweet and intelligent. She has adapted well to her role as a therapy horse. We often say that she is worth her weight in gold because she is so great with everyone who works with her, especially small children. She is definately the horse we use most to begin training of volunteers, because she always cooperates with every little instruction she is given.

Keavy
Breed: Quarter Horse Cross
Age: Born on St. Patrick’s Day!
Keavy was born on St. Patrick’s Day and given an Irish name which means precious, beautiful and gentle. And, she certainly is all of these things and more! She’s an all-around sturdy lass who is sweet and easy to ride. The luck of the Irish certainly was with us when she joined our herd!

Sophia

Age: Born 200?
Like Candela, Sophia once had a career as a polo pony, trained in Argentina. She is blind in one eye, thanks to glaucoma. But even with this small disability, Sophia makes an amazing therapy horse. She is quiet and calm and able to manage as if she was fully sighted.

Muñeca aka “Moon”

Like Candela and Sophia, Muñeca once had a career as a polo pony, trained in Argentina. We’ve nicknamed her “Moon” to make her name easy to pronounce. Her special gift seems to be that the minute she starts to work, she is completely focussed on doing her best to please her rider. We are so excited to have this sweet girl on our team.

Bonnie

Bonnie, a retired Dallas Police Department Mounted Patrol officer, spent her early retirement learning dressage, which makes her training unmatched. But, it is her sweet personality and eagerness to please that makes everyone who meets her fall instantly in love.

Thunder & Lightening

With a roaring name like Thunder, you might expect that this horse would be a giant and a little bit scary. But, Thunder is actually a quiet little mini horse with large soulful eyes that melt your heart. He loves to be brushed, standing still for as long as you are willing to oblige him with a nice grooming.
Lightning loves to get into a little harmless mischief now and again, but he’s so easy to fall in love with. He especially loves children and connects with them easily. He loves to go on field trips with his brother to visit participants who can’t make it out to us.
